Many people today have a distorted view of Christianity. Most people try to earn their way to heaven by doing good things for people and going to church once a week. This doesn’t mean that they have rejected Jesus Christ. Many believe that Jesus is the only way to God, and if they follow his rules and do enough good in life, than they are home free man! People’s lives are like treadmills based on performance. To people, good performance equals acceptance. Today’s culture reinforces it in school, in sports, with friends, at our jobs, our communities and even at home. Many pray the “Sinner’s Prayer” and it sound like this,
God, I am sorry for all of the bad things I have done. I promise to do better. I really will try to do better. Amen.
With prayers like this, it is no wonder that people that profess Christianity struggles to live a Christ-like life. Many live their lives trying to perform so their lives can be transformed! Our lives are not transformed by just doing good things. We can try to live our lives like this but this doesn’t result in the true transformation that God requires of us. Transformation is a heart to heart encounter with God himself. Just you and Him. We must cry out to God as our redeemer in faith.
God, I want to know you Lord. I am hopelessly lost in sin and I am in need of your forgiveness O Lord. I place my trust in the sacrificial death of your only Son Jesus who paid the price for my sins as he nailed my sins to the cross. Forgive me Lord, and come into my heart and transform me from the inside out. Take my sin and make me a new person alive in you Lord. I long to have an intimate relationship with you Lord, I love you.
When we yield our lives to God like this and truly surrender our lives, a radical change takes place in hearts and lives. We don’t earn it, we don’t deserve it, and you can’t buy it.
Christianity isn’t like religion, it’s like falling in love. You have to humbly surrender and commit your life to the Lord every day. I do every day. I can’t do anything on my own. With Jesus I can do all things in His strength!
Are you sold out for Christ? Does Jesus reign on the throne of your heart? Are you running looking for something? Jesus Christ will radically change your life. If I can pray for you or pray with you about anything, send me a message.
Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them that they might be saved. – Romans 10:1
